Professional WWE wrestler Kane becomes mayor of Knox County

Professional WWE wrestler Kane, whose real name is Glenn Jacobs, has won the mayoral election in Knox County, Tennessee, on Thursday night.

A prominent figure in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), the 51-year-old has had the upper hand over Democrat Linda Haney. The Republican representative got almost two-thirds of the votes cast, according to the local ABC network. More than 80,000 people voted in the polls.

Jacobs enjoyed an easier win than his party’s nomination race, which he won by just 23 votes over Brad Anders in May. The 6’8 “man was supported by many of his WWE colleagues during the election campaign, including the Undertaker, aka Mark Calaway. The latter plays the role of Kane’s brother in the wrestling arena.

The new mayor, who also runs a real estate insurance company with his wife, will begin his term on September 1st.
